USITT 2003

Horizon Control Inc. and Entertainment Technology Introduce Marquee 24/48 Console.

USITT – Minneapolis – March 19, 2003 - Horizon Control Inc. in conjunction with Entertainment Technology announces the release of the much-anticipated ‘furniture’ for the very popular Horizon Lighting Control System – the Marquee console. Horizon, the professional Windows based lighting control system, was released in 1996, and to date, has had very limited hardware to accompany it. Most of the work was done on your PC using a keyboard and a mouse. We found this user interface, while popular with many users (architectural installations and churches especially), was not well-liked by ‘traditional’ theatre people. Showing Marquee at USITT this year, the common refrain was: ‘finally – a desk for my console.’

Marquee is a powerful, professional lighting control console especially designed for schools and universities, local theatres, churches and any other group that needs a robust yet easy-to-use lighting console. Powered by Horizon software, the friendly graphical user interface gets you started writing cues faster than ever before. Marquee is a true tracking style desk, just like the ones that have been used on Broadway for years. For simple applications, Marquee can act as a standard 24/48 preset desk with split fader playbacks.

Marquee consists of a sexy titanium face panel (48 channel/sub sliders with bump buttons; A/B – C/D playbacks; soft keys; programming buttons; grand master and blackout button; level wheel; track pad) hooked to a dedicated ‘brain’ running Embedded XP and the Marquee software. There are two DMX ports on the back of the desk as well as MIDI/SMPTE in and out, two external triggers, USB ports for keyboard and mouse and expansion ports for future use. Marquee’s software has no reasonable fixed limits in the way of channels, groups, cues, subs, macros, moving lights etc. Marquee is designed ACN ready and currently supports Ethernet communication to lighting fixtures using the Pathport protocol in addition to direct Ethernet connection to Capio dimmer racks and Intelligent Raceway.

Marquee is anticipated to ship mid first quarter 2004.

A preliminary specification sheet for Marquee is available here.
