Horizon participates, once again, at LDI training sessions

LDI - The Entertainment Technology Show - Orlando November 2003

For the 3rd year running, Horizon was one of the consoles to participate at LDInstitute's Off-Site Moving Light Training sessions, an advanced course in automated lighting programming for greater efficiency in programming techniques, advanced programming concepts, and "tricks of the trade," designed to maximize limited programming time. There were a number of other consoles involved (including Compulite, ETC, MA Lighting and Martin), each had dedicated Vari*Lite and Martin moving lights. The workshop was coordinated and presented by Jim Waits and assisted by Rob Holland, Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. Full Sail hosted the event which was presented in conjunction with ESTA's technical education committee with representatives from each of the console manufacturers.

This year Horizon Control Product Manager Robert Bell and Systems Specialist Brian Evans were on hand to guide participants through some of the finer points of moving light programming on Horizon. Students aptly learned Horizon's interface and completed the assigned tasks so quickly that Bell and Evans kept having to delve into the more advanced features of Horizon, like SMPTE Time Code and Advance Macro Language just to keep them busy.

Once again, it proves handy to have a console in your laptop.  One of the manufacturers failed to show up to class this year, and Horizon Control Inc. quickly stepped in to take their place with a second console.
